monolith voyager split

The Monolith/Voyager split we’ve been talking about for weeks — the very first release by new label Science of Silence Records — comes out on June 8th, less than a week from now. But we’re offering you the opportunity to stream the entire thing, which includes two monolithic songs by Monolith and four epic voyages by Voyager, today. And you best not be disappointed.

The split is a limited edition run of just 500 copies on clear vinyl, available exclusively at The Omega Order. Each purchase of the vinyl will receive a FREE digital download of the album as well. The release will also be available on June 8th via iTunes, eMusic, Amazon MP3, and all your other favorite download stores. All digital downloads features a bonus track not on the vinyl.

We hope you enjoy it… because we do.

At least the line “two monolithic songs by Monolith and four epic voyages by Voyager” was more exciting than the music.

is it just me or is monolith the new baroness?

    pretty awesome split though.

no they aren’t the ‘new’ boringess. all these bands heard isis and mastodon around the same time and evolved into this mind- numbingly boring genre of epic pointlessness. Slow beats, out of tune low muddy guitars, and twelve minute songs with 60 seconds of vocals that basically amount to growling GRRRAHHH……. or VUUHHHH…….. or SHHHRRRAAAAA….. or BUUUUUUHHHHH on the 1′s. And they’re all the same.

  • Double D

I’m not dissing this type of music, especially because, if you ask any of my friends, this is the type of music I’ve been making them listen to for the past year or so. However, it seems like a SHITLOAD of bands are running with this sound lately. I mean the whole long, sustained riffs and slightly guttural screaming. Those kinda ‘Isis’-style songs that my buddy always says you could cut the song by 3 minutes, have the same song and still have it last 5 minutes. I’m down for it, in fact I’m listening to it now, but it seems to be done a lot.

Sorry for that awful punctuation, too.

with Isis being gone, I’ll have to pick up some new bands like these!

  • Dirtman73

It’s good to hear that Isis and Neurosis are back to making music again.

Pretty awesome split album. I like both of the bands so far. That cover of the Cure’s Cold is choice, can’t top Robert Smith’s vocals though.

i am admittedly new to the post-metal/doom genre but this is pretty sick. im back for my second listen through. I think the Monolith stuff is great.

  • andy

I’m really digging this right now, especially Voyager. They’ve got some real solid, percussive sounds going on.

  • nefas

strongly agree with Double D. There are other bands doing this better than these guys, even though what’s here isn’t terrible by any means.

  • pork

how dare you sound like bands that you like and by which you are influenced!

    I’m digging Voyager!!

Doom’s something fairly new to my ears and both these bands do sound par for the course: but if Slayer can flog every “almost Angel of Death” riff for 20 + years and have folk go ga ga over it, these guys work for me.

Thanks for all the kind words.

Such a killer split, the LP is very much a great purchase. I’m a proud owner of one of those 500.
