MAYDAY, MAYDAY!: NEW EXCLUSIVE EARLY GRAVES TRACK

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010 at 1:00pm by

early gravesOK, so the name of the track is actually “May Day,” as in the first day of May — but who are we to resist an easy pun-tastic headline?

San Francisco’s Early Graves — formerly known as Apiary [who were loved by Kip Wingerschmidts the world over] — will release their second album Goner on June 22nd via Ironclad Recordings. Goner is the kind of dirty, pissed off, rugged piece of raw metal and hardcore best served up in the moshpit of a raging mid-summer show at a dirty, scuzzy bar, which is to say it’s heavy as fuck. “May Day” is a pretty good representation of what the album is all about, so give it a shot and see what you think.

Check out another new Early Graves song on MySpace and pre-order Goner here. Early Graves will be on tour with The Funeral Pyre this Summer.

This is what metal is all about. Pissed off and ugly. This band exposes all the posers and the lack of heart in metal songs being written nowadays. I absolutely can’t wait for this album!

They have another song on their myspace page, “Goner”: myspace.com/earlygravessf

Hahahaha their guitarist used to be in a bunch of nu metal/metalcore bands. How the fuck can you call these guys even “TRUE METAL.” LOL riiiiight listen to Gaza.

    • GoingDeaf?

Gaza is cool, but I don’t see how they are any more TRUE METAL than Early Graves. Have you researched all those guys to make sure they’ve been TRUE since birth? Otherwise they are fuckin’ posers.

      • Sylvester

        This is a good point.
I don’t care who you are, at one time or another you’ve been a fan of (and probably still are) a fan of something your friends would consider “lame” or something that “only poseurs listen to”.
Sorry, but not one metal fan has been born “kvlt” or “troo” from the womb.
Even Fenriz had to start somewhere.

I remember when these guys were “Clearing Autumn Skys” and they were ripping off Candiria and Poison The Well, now they’re just ripping off Mastodon and Converge

None of these guys were ever in Clearing Autumn Skies except for the singer, who was in the band right before they broke up. They all slowly took over spots in Apiary, which was born from the ashes of Clearing Autumn Skies. That’s the only relation. Completely different bands.

And Mastodon? Really? Don’t hear it.

  • GoingDeaf?

Fuck yeah… can’t wait for this album to come out. Loved the first album. It’s albums like this that cause me to laugh when an ultra clean, snapped-to-the-grid, trigger happy band calls their music “brutal”. THIS is BRUTAL..

  • Bob

    This whole record is great.

The two times I’ve seen them live it was exactly as you described. Great fuckin show, but if you value your hearing avoid this band live.

  • Ryan

E DOUBLE F kids that diss this band. these kids are as down as you can get. this music is as down as you can get. their live show is as down as you can get. if “TRUE METAL” is about anything less than screaming for what you are passionate about, wearind dirty ass clothes that have seen one too many clubs without a washing machine visit, banging your head until your neck hurts for two weeks, drinking until you can’t remember anything from the previous night, etc. than I want NOTHING to do with “TRUE METAL.” I’ve know some of these dudes for years and i can assure you they are as real as you can get. BUY THIS SHIT.

  • KMFCM

    HOLY NASUM BATMAN!!!!!!!

I didn’t expect that at all. It’s fucking grindcore!

this album is going to be so fucking amazing

  • Gaia

That is some fucking brutal artwork.
