EXCLUSIVE TRACK PREMIERE: ARCH ENEMY’S “BLOOD STAINED CROSS”

Friday, May 6th, 2011 at 12:00pm by

Alright, fuckers, who’s ready for some new Arch Enemy? It’s been nearly four years since the band’s last release, but in just a few weeks, Arch Enemy will unleash their Khaos Legions. We think it may very well be the legendary melodeath outfit’s finest hour since 2001′s Wages of Sin. And if you don’t believe us, well, you absolutely must listen to this new track we have for ya, “Bloodstained Cross.” It’s basically everything you’d ever want from an Arch Enemy song, or any melodic death metal song, for that matter — equal parts brutal, mammoth, and stuck-in-your-head-for-the-next-week catchy.

Century Media will release Khaos Legions on May 30 in Europe and June 7 in North America. You can pre-order it here in a variety of packages. And to sweeten the deal, all North American pre-orders will receive an autographed Arch Enemy photo, a code for a free bonus download of a live recording of “Dark Insanity” from last year’s Metal Female Voices (code will be sent via email when the album is released), and be entered to win weekly prizes from Altec Lansing’s line of award-winning audio products. So get on that shit!

Absolutely amazing, but I wouldn’t expect anything less. Everyone sounds on top of their game and the production is just stellar. I hate that I have to wait to get this.

I totally agree that, based on the four songs I’ve heard, this could be their best since Wages.

    • Altan

any chance you could give me a link to the 4 songs uve heard? ive only heard this one and Yesterday is Dead and Gone, and any chance you have download links?

      Thanks

    • Fsnirl

I’ve only heard this, Yesterday is dead and gone, and no gods no masters, what other song is out there?

    • Deth

Sorry, no links or downloads. A friend knows the band and got a hook up.

    • Dary

Hell no, there is no way this can be better than Wages of Sin. Sure, I seriously hoped it could be their best album, but based on the songs they released until now, this is their worst work. Too much melody for me. If I wanted this much melody, I would listen to In Flames.

Maybe the other songs can compensate and I’m wrong. I hope so.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ross-Brownfield/747657803 Ross Brownfield

Ummm… Have you even heard anything they’ve released in the last ten years?

        • Dary

Sure did. And that’s why I didn’t like Rise of The Tyrant so much.
Although Doomsday Machine is my favorite album.

The point is, based on the songs released, this album takes melody to an even higher level than the previous albums did.

          • gökay ülker

dude cant get people who doesnt like rise of the tyrant i think it equals doomsday and better than most of them but i think this would be awsome

      • boris

this is like less melodic than wages of sin…

        • Dary

Right. This is less melodic than The First Deadly Sin, Lament of a Mortal Soul, Dead Bury Their Dead, Enemy Whithin… Specially the chorus and the ending of this song are less melodic than anything on Wages. Right.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Kevin-DiSclafani/562230302 Kevin DiSclafani

They’re a melodic death metal band. What did you expect?

      • Naiwan

        1

        • Dary

I expect LESS melody. There’s a difference between some melody and too much melody.

Or maybe you think In Flames and Hypocrisy play the same thing, for instance?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Vince-Decker/100002225040320 Vince Decker

sounds pretty good. i never really got into these guys cuz theyre way straight foward (same way i feel about in flames or trivium), but maybe id pick this one up

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Lucio-Garcia/100000606243894 Lucio Garcia

im sorry but In Flames and specially Trivium dont have shit on Arch enemy… any ways yeah i might pick this one up too :D

  • Fsnirl

is it just me or does that sounds like an awesome old sk00L arch enemy song, maybe even better? hearing this tonight more than makes up for the lacklustre new in flames single.

    • Altered Bestiality

don’t you mean lackluster past 8-9 years of In Flames catalog?

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Eric-Alejandro-Trevino/681356084 Eric Alejandro Trevino

        1

  • BigBintheAV

    Arch Enemy is sick!

  • JB

this definitely sounds like older arch enemy but with way better sound production. won’t complain.

  • Vincent Montour

You always DEATH. Can’t wait to see you live in Montréal, soon, I hope!!!!

Arch Enemy is coming back to their roots with this song, and album from what I’ve heard so far. Very sic! I can’t wait to get my hands on the whole album!!
    \m/ ‘-_-’ \m/

  • Fabio Loki

    Chaotic!

  • A normal human like the rest of you

Metal song titles keeping getting worse and more repetitive. The song was solid though.

  • http://www.facebook.com/GUNSENmetal GUNSEN

    AWESOME!!!!!!! I WAITING IN POLAND!!!!

  • Strapping Young Lad

No other band has melodic leads like Arch Enemy. Fuckin Fantastic!

    • Altered Bestiality

This song reminds me a lot of their overall sound/experience at one of their shows. Excellent, and their melodic passages pack a punch instead of sounding cheesy.

Arch Enemy is one of those acts that constantly send you in a fast frenzy and then stops the crowd dead in their tracks for the melody, and then kicks their ass again. Thats power right there

      • Dary

Too bad they didn’t do it with this sound.

      • Carter

So True I love the Arch Enemy style. They like to musically kick the audience in the teeth, Im a fan. Just one more reason Angela Gossow is the only female singer I’m into.

  • Igottawocket

Wow that was awesome. Damn. Really looking forward to this now, Arch Enemy used to be one of my favorite bands. Loved their last couple releases, but they did feel a little flat somehow. However, I do think Anthems of Rebellion is their best, but maybe thats just me.

  • Black Shuck

I really like the drum sound on this song. And Angela Gossow’s voice.

  • SprayzZZ

i have a question , Deth said there was four songs out ? i know that

Yesterday is dead and gone , No Gods No Masters and BLOOD STAINED CROSS which song is the fourth ?

    • Deth

I heard them from a friend who knows the band and got some advance songs. The fourth was Under Black Flags We March.

  • Vectis

Brilliant as usual, maybe this will be the best arch enemy album ever

  • rey

sounds tired and stale, unfortunately. farewell Arch enemy. you were fun in high school

Mike Amott had better be on your goddamn modern guitarists list.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Eric-Nguyen/100001285066849 Eric Nguyen

Definitely Arch Enemy’s best since Wages Of Sin. Rise of The Tyrant was a disappointment compared to the ripping tracks on Anthems of Rebellion (Silent Wars, We Will Rise, Saints and Sinners, Exist to Exit) and Wages of Sin( MACHTKAMPF, Nemesis, Hybrids of Steel (This song should be the new Guile theme meme song)). I actually stopped listening to this band out of boredom before seeing them live on tour with Exodus. From the songs I’ve heard, this album will shred.

    • Deneb

Machtkampf and son on were all songs from Dommsday Machine, not Wages of sin ;)
Wages of sin is the fucking great album on which you can listen to Ravenous, Burnin Angel, Heart of darkness and just 10 others greats songs !
Anyway, this new song just sound very good to me !

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Eric-Nguyen/100001285066849 Eric Nguyen

EEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!! Whoops. Thanks for correcting me. What song is son on?

        • Deneb

Sorry I meant “and so on” ;)
But I agree that Doomsday machine is still a great album.

  • Alex

I dislike the random key change for the chorus, feels out of place.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ramin-Shojania/100000537727801 Ramin Shojania

    Amazing….Awesome
Sharlee D’Angelo is one of the bests…Arch Enemy Rulz….\m/

  • dennis

Nemesis being the first Arch Enemy song I heard, I still have a soft spot for Doomsday Machine. What I’ve heard so far from the new album they moving away from that style rather than improving on it. Too bad.

  • Altan

does anyone know where to get an actual download mp3 for this song? been looking everywhere and cant seem to find one :(

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Scott-Meyering/830947500 Scott Meyering

    i like it!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jordan-Lunsford/100000821886561 Jordan Lunsford

Sick song, the cover reminds me of Quake Wars or something hahaha

  • alexx kordo

it’s fucking sick!!!!can’t wait to hear the full album….will probably be the best album since anthems !!!!\\mm//

  • msv81

This song is mediocre compared to the rest of the album. Seriously, this record is amazing and I would agree it’s their best in YEARS. Have had an advance copy for a few weeks and it’s been on constant spin since. Love it. Fans of the band will be shocked at how sweet it is.

But yeah, I do feel this song is the weakest link but as a single it’s to be expected.

    • Justin

if you’re lying, i’m gonna come and burn your house down son

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Devon-Czekaj/550092101 Devon Czekaj

Sounds great, something about Michael Amott’s guitar playing just hits me someplace special. I can’t wait to see them on their next tour.

I sound like riotact666 with this post, but I don’t care.

  • zakariuz
  • Brasen

And if you want less melody, there are loads of low-grade, soundless just dumb-ass drumm-scream-all-sound-likenothing bands out there..

The melody and use of guitar is what makes Arch Enemy what they are, and i absolutely love the pitched sound of the grunting..

Can’t wait to pick up this album, and have it become one of the highlights of the year ^_^

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Thomas-Leo-Braund/707525448 Thomas Leo Braund

like the music, dislike the vocals. got my copies of wages of sin and doomsday machine and that’s all i think i’ll be needing from this band.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Cale-Gibbs/100002079787519 Cale Gibbs

F%^n critics shut the hell up and enjoy the music !

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Isaac-Cordova/518034847 Isaac Cordova

Beginning is good. The rest is boring. Too much melody.

  • polish_metalHEAD

This shit doesnt work here….. Can anyone at metalsux fix it ???

  • Michael B

Not working here in the US either.

    • Michael B

NVM – proxy server blocked it.

  • Kreuger

To you idiots complaining about melody: It’s called MELODIC death metal for a reason.

  • sha

I do not mean this in a bad way at all but when I hear this it’s like I can pick out each riff and say ohh this is like that that other riff they used on this song. Still it’s pretty fucking brutal and I love it. I’m sure it will be the song I start all my Arch Enemy playlists off with.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Kyle-Wentworth/100000803656915 Kyle Wentworth

Black earth and burning bridges, stigmata. Best albums. I dont like their new vocalist Angela.

  • stretch it over ur head like a swim cap

Incredible solos, definite highlight of the song. Good shit.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Brian-Curtis/666041213 Brian Curtis

some of the comments make me lul but the music is epic and solid and nothing less the a great accomplishment compared to many bands I would list off but I would much rather avoid more idiotic banter. I will throw out there though the past 2 years have been a grave disappointment to my ears in terms of metal albums released overall. I have well over 10k songs on my pc and most of the names I grew up loving in the metal scene have grown a bit unsavory with the directions they have taken to appease the derps (mainly referring to the all to horrible direction put forth by high school kids with no past experience in music) just warming up to metal . I have well over 1000 albums 13k tracks 500 artists between pc and cd wallets and I mean albums going back to 1969 to the present where bands began the influences and hints of what was to come I am only 21 but mind you being an audiophile as an escape from reality has its perks when you can actually say you know album names/song names/song times/artists/country of artist origin/etc.

I generally despise most new bands and I have a growing distaste for my local hot topic. But I will say one thing music is always changing and just because a album or song gos to shit dont just quit listening their are always great bands out there for the ears to fill up with massive amounts of solos and just general music talent. Dont limit yourself expand and listen to all you can don’t be a douchebag like some of the preteens and teens on youtube saying oh this bands better than this band dont like stfu go elsewhere and find a new eargasm Lol.
