TOO SOON TOO? LEYLA FORD’S BEST OF 2011… SO FAR

I give into peer pressure easily. In no particular order other than alphabetical:

  • Bloodlights – TBA (I’ve heard the songs even if the album isn’t out yet, so it counts.)
  • Darkest Hour – The Human Romance (Instrumental Version)
  • Devin Townsend – Deconstruction
  • Havok – Time Is Up
  • Obscura – Omnivium
  • Pain –  You Only Live Twice (Grudgingly. We’ll see if it makes it to the end of the year.)
  • Protest the Hero – Scurrilous
  • Scale the Summit – The Collective
  • SubRosa – No Help for the Might Ones (It was Corey Mitchell’s description that made me check them out. Credit where it’s due!)
  • Wolf – Legions of Bastards

    I still need to check out a couple of these. As for the Protest the Hero album, hell yeah! This album is just mind blowing. Less of that random screaming from the previous album, but still incredible. Every single song is amazing lyrically and instrumentally.

      The pitchy yell/sing/scream thingy John does on this album makes me want to kill myself. I loved the clean type vocals he did on songs like Demons, but the shit in the chorus of Savor The Kill sucks.

    I’ve heard Obscura, PTH, Darkest Hour, STS and Devin and they are all great albums, so I need to check out the others you mentioned. I love these kinds of lists when I have similar taste to the person who created the list; one of my favorite ways to find great stuff I haven’t heard.
