THE QUICKSAND REUNION IS A GO

UPDATE, 6/20, 1:50pm EDT: Revelation Records has announced they’ll be taking over NYC’s Irving Plaza on October 11-14 for a series of shows. They’ve confirmed Texas Is The Reason and Chain of Strength, but not Quicksand… yet.

Original Post:

Quicksand’s appearance at the Revelation Records 25th Anniversary show in L.A. last week made us fans pining for a Quicksand reunion wonder, “Is this for real?” It appears that the answer is yes, albeit with an asterisk.

The FYF Fest in Los Angeles on September 1st and 2nd just announced their monster lineup, and Quicksand are on the bill. So are Refused, Turbonegro, Cursive, Converge, Fucked Up, Baroness and a crapload of other bands (most of whom probably won’t be of interest to metalheads).

The asterisk here, of course, is that while this is Quicksand’s second reunion show (good news!) it’s also their second in L.A. (questionable news). Are they planning to take this baby out on the road? I’m not sure if the members all live in or near L.A. these days, but if they do these two shows’ identical location start to make a whole lot more sense.  Even if some of the members live elsewhere, was it simply the allure of these two high-profile shows that inspired them to break free of their cocoon? We’ll just have to wait and hope that there’s more on the way.
