You Don’t Need to Wait 22 Year for Quicksand’s New Single, “Brushed”

Quicksand are one of those bands who only seemed to get more popular after breaking up. Unless you were a super cool kid in the early-mid ’90s — and, crucially, unless you were of a certain age at that time — you found about the band later. An entire generation of people born between 1980 and 1995 became aware of Quicksand’s incredible music and legacy only after their heyday.

That means you either waited 22 years or your entire life for new music from the band when they finally dropped Interiors in 2017. Thankfully this time around the wait isn’t nearly as long: the band are getting ready to release Distant Populations in August, and they’ve just released a new single, “Brushed,” following “Missile Command” in June. This is a chill one, not a prototypical Quicksand banger, but as long as you go in expecting that I reckon you’ll dig it.

Distant Populations comes out on August 13 via Epitaph; pre-order here.
