Dead in the Dirt - The Blind Hole

Atlanta grindcore trio “Dead in the Dirt” have released a brand new song called “The Pit of Me” through Pitchfork, and it’s easily my favorite song I’ve heard of theirs so far. I’m not all that into grind and “Pit of Me” is probably their least grind-y song to date, which is probably why I like it.

In contrast to the mostly punk-influenced grind approach on their previous EPs, “Pit of Me” stretches out into atmospheric and expansive soundscapes, and slows the tempo down to well below the band’s usual clip of 1000bpm. It’s a unique track from a band that really seems to be on the up-and-up, garnering praise from all parts of the metalsphere. Stream it at Pitchfork.

The Blind Hole will come out on August 6th via [of course] Southern Lord.
