Kerry King has many talents — guitar playing, lyric writing, being the human cue ball at carnivals — but book learnin’ ain’t one of ’em. So no one should be too shocked that during a recent interview with DCW50, King admitted what everyone with a fourth grade education already knew about the title of Slayer’s new album, Repentless*:

“I made [the word] up. I didn’t realize I made it up. I mean, it seemed like a word to me, and then I looked it up and it wasn’t there. [Laughs]”

Thanks, Captain Obvious. Some of us thought you discovered the word whilst translating Heidegger

King went on to waste oxygen explaining the definition of “repentless” for the many Slayer fans who can’t figure it out on their own, continuing to butcher the English language in the process:

“‘Repentless’ is meaning I have no reason to repent.”

Okay, Borat. So your made up word “is meaning” the same thing as the real word “unrepentant.” Again, I dunno who hadn’t put that together already. It’s not like we all heard the word “repentless” and thought it was referring to a store that sells discount repents. I’m shocked he didn’t take time explain the Reign in Blood/”Raining Blood” pun. That one has been making Slayer fans go cross-eyed for decades now.

Here’s the complete interview:
