ddri_tlkw-cvr-lores.jpgAm I the only one who has a really, really, really hard time believing that DevilDriver frontman Dez Fafara is the same guy who used to be in Coal Chamber, one of the crappiest of the crappy nu-metal bands? And am I the only one who wonders why his first band’s name was an alliteration and then his next band’s name is an alliteration WITH THE LETTER DIRECTLY FOLLOWING IN THE ALPHABET?! Don’t be surprised if Dez is in a band called “EvilEye” in five years.
While you ponder those issues, check out the cover art for DevilDriver’s June 5 release, The Last Kind Words. I have to say, this is not what I was expecting. Except for the band logo, it could almost pass as an alternative cover for that weird cult everyone is talking about, The Secret; I mean there’s no gruesome imagery or anything undeniably “metal” about it. But that’s not a bad thing; I’m all for creativity, and I have high hopes for this band.

Jason Suecof produced the disc, presumably because the band has already worked with Colin Richardson, Andy Sneap was busy, and Adam D. is gay.
