UPDATE, 3/20/12: Now the official Summer Slaughter Facebook page has added Periphery and Job for a Cowboy to the bill. So on Fleshgod Apocalypse remain unconfirmed.

UPDATE, 3/19/12: Zach Shaw from Metal Insider just pointed out to us that this is actually a fan-made page for Mayhem Fest, not the tour’s official Facebook page. So maybe this line-up is BS… although it still seems pretty legit to me. In any case, my apologies for the confusion.

The annual Heavy MTL/Heavy TO festival has announced its 2012 line-up late last week, and lotsa folks noticed (and e-mailed us about — thanks!) that all the bands that have already been confirmed for this year’s Summer Slaughter festival are on the bill — meaning that it would be logical to infer that the remaining Slaughterers of Summer were on the bill, too. And I was just sitting here trying to use some deductive reasoning to figure out who those remaining bands might be, when Heavy Blog is Heavy pointed out that the full Summer Slaughter line-up has now been announced… via The Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival’s Facebook page:

So, yeah, that’s pretty weird.

It’s also possible that it’s just plain incorrect, although somehow, I don’t think so — Job for a Cowboy have been rumored to be on the bill since January, and we’d heard rumblings about Periphery around the same time. In any case, I have no idea how we ended up in this situation where a competing festival somehow announced Summer Slaughter’s full line-up, but there have it. Suspense: ended.

ANYWAY, I think this is a great bill– perfect, in fact. No doubt, the organizers of Summer Slaughter deserve a huge pat on the back this year. And don’t forget that one of these young bands will soon win the opening spot on the tour, too.

Hopefully dates and confirmation of this complete line-up will be announced soon. In the meantime, celebrate the awesomeness of this year’s trek below, or tell me I’m an idiot and all of these bands suck or whatever.
