Trioscapes - Separate Realities

The Year of the Jazz-Fusion Metal Record continues today with the appropriately named “Wazzlejazzlebof,” the new song by BTBAM bassist Dan Briggs’ side-project Trioscapes. Check it out right this second at AbsolutePunk.net because you love music that’s challenging and pushes new boundaries instead of recycling the same old stuff … that’s why we all love metal so much, right?

Truth is, this song barely qualifies as metal at all by any stretch of the definition of that word; the only part that’s close is the fuzzy guitar and bass riffing about halfway through the song and towards the end. I’ve heard the album Separate Realities in full — listened to it many times over in fact, ’cause it’s that good — and there are certainly songs that are heavier / more metal than this one. But that isn’t really the point. Trioscapes are pushing the genre forward, and because there is a member of Between the Buried and Me in the band I decree that you WILL listen to it and you WILL like it. End of story!

Walter Fancourt (tenor saxophone/flute) and Matt Lynch (drums) comprise the rest of the band. Separate Realities will come out May 8th via Metal Blade, and can be pre-ordered here.
