Tour de Force

One of my personal highlights from last year’s Metal Suckfest (holy fuck — it’s been almost a year!) was watching Woodstock, NY prog rockers 3 put a smile on the face of nearly everyone in the room the night they appeared before Cynic, Obscura and The Red Chord. 3 might’ve been the lightest band on the bill, but good lord, never in my life have I seen an acoustic guitar rocked SO FUCKING HARD. Those guys brought it, and gave the audience every single ounce of their energy.

Following their appearance at Suckfest 3 traveled cross-country with Cynic and Obscura, which to my knowledge is the last time they performed live — until now. According to Metal Underground, fans in the Northeast will have a unique opportunity to see 3 open for Coheed and Cambria in venues much smaller than Coheed is accustomed to playing. Guitarist/vocalist Joey Eppard, of course, is the brother of Coheed and Cambria’s former and current drummer Josh Eppard. If you’re a fan of Coheed and/or 3, get tickets for this tour as soon as possible; these intimate shows promise to be a blast. Dates below:

09/13 Kingston, NY Ulster Performing Arts Center
09/19 Buffalo, NY Town Ballroom
09/20 Toronto, ON Mod Club
09/21 Rochester, NY Water Street Music Hall
09/22 Albany, NY The Hart Theatre at the Egg
09/24 Syracuse, NY Westcott Theater
09/25 South Burlington, VT High Ground – Ballroom
09/26 Hartford, CT Webster Theater
09/28 Worcester, MA The Palladium
09/29 Atlantic City, NJ Showboat Hotel & Casino – House of Blues

No word on whether Coheed’s tour will extend beyond the Northeast, although it seems likely: part one of their new album Afterman comes out in October.
