Cult of Luna are Bumming Me Out, Man
A Finnish website called Off the Record has a video of Cult of Luna performing an acoustic version of the song “Passing Through,” off this year’s ridiculously great Vertikal (review), in the middle of the night, while it’s snowing out. Occasionally, the director offers some respite from the dreariness by cutting to large industrial machines.
And I gotta tell ya, the song was never really all that uplifting to begin with, but this version? This version makes me wanna get into a nice, hot bath, and slit my wrists.
Don’t get me wrong. I love it with every ounce of my being. I just also happen to find it to be roughly as joyous as watching a million babies, puppies, and kittens be slowly burned alive. I’m gonna go buy stock in whatever company manufactures Lexapro and then I’m gonna show this video to everyone I know. I may even hit up some funerals and make sure some mourners see it, too. Come Monday, I will be a rich, rich man.
The video isn’t embeddable, but you can check it out here. The original version of the song is below. Vertikal is out now on Density in the U.S. and Indie in Europe.
