Everyone's Replaceable

Stu Block is Officially Out of Into Eternity

Into Eternity

Into Eternity premiered a new song live last month with touring vocalist Amanda Kiernan, and this seemed like a fine time for us to wonder if she’d officially replaced Stu Block as the band’s full-time vocalist, both live and on record (dubious Wiki claims notwithstanding). Now it appears as if we have our answer.

Cameron Dalgetty’s Podcast interviewed the band last week at the Loud As Hell festival in Western Canada, and pretty much the first thing out of Tim Roth’s mouth (in that ever-so-adorable Canadian accent!) is that Kiernan has officially replaced Block as the vocalist in all capacities. He then goes on to talk about writing and recording new material with her and so on and so forth, so it’s pretty safe to assume this is a done deal and the band has officially moved on from Block for good.

Kiernan is a fantastic talent and I’m happy for here but I’ll definitely miss Block, whose vocals were a big selling point for the band. My interest in Iced Earth is far less than my interest in Into Eternity but Block’s presence isn’t enough to make me into an Iced Earth fan, so… oh well. I of course can’t fault Block for taking the gig and running with it, though.

Thanks: Fuzzy Dunlop
