The Acacia Strain Rise “Above” Lineup Changes

Say, didja know that Daniel “DL” Laskiewicz — who had continued writing for The Acacia Strain for years but hadn’t been touring with them recently — left the band for good in May? Were you a bit worried, like us, that his departure would drastically alter the band’s trademark sound?

Well now’s your chance to find out: the band’s got a two-song 7″ called Above / Below coming out November 12th on Rise Records, and they’ve released one of the cuts — “Above” — for all the world to stream. Check it out below in lyric video form.

So, whachoo think? Basically still sounds like The Acacia Strain to me, but what do I know, I’m just some d-bag Jewy metal blogger from Brooklyn.

Guitarists Devin Shidaker (ex-Oceano) and Richie Gomez (Ex-Molotov Solution) have replaced Laskiewicz; the band hasn’t carried a permanent second guitarist since Daniel Daponde left in 2006 (more past lineup info can be found here).
