Converge’s Kurt Ballou Needs a Doctor

Ever wonder how it would sound if Converge guitarist and producer extraordinaire Kurt Ballou went solo? Well, wonder no more: Ballou has now recorded a solo track, entitled “I Need a Doctor,” for the Sonic Explorations series from Stompbox Sonic. You can check it out via the below video.

Unsurprisingly, given Ballou’s God-like talents, the track is awesome: its upbeat drums, larglely monotone vocals, and ever-descending guitars lend it a kind of surf-rock-by-way-of-Queens of the Stone Age vibe. I would not be bummed if Ballou decided to make an entire album like this. Hopefully the audio will be available for download at some point. ‘Til then…
