Vuvyr: U Jam?

It was a few days ago via MetalSucks Friday 5 that we exchanged our lists of the best jams to crank at the final moment of our workweek. As always, there were no wrong answers (except a non-answer), and listed were songs that celebrate our endurance and soundtrack our liberation, that scrub our psychic palette of the residue of obligation, and that trumpet our plans for unfettered fun in the coming 60 hours or so. It’s like, yeah, we accept that upon a few turds we must munch in exchange for financial security. And on Friday night — or whatever night is your “Friday” — we’ll sound the alarm for party time. Fair warning!

But, alternately, Vuyvr’s “Hate Is A Black Hole” is a jam for the toll of 8 a.m. on a Monday. In its opening seconds, it’s the sound of dreams collapsing, of the great potential of a liberated soul folded upon itself exponentially. It’s the city hall of PartyVille dynamited at its base, the sexiest Saturday beach strafed by drones, and a tsunami of flesh-scalding acid vomited from the heavens onto a vista-filling field of pot plants. It’s the time clock grinding, the water cooler gurgling, the phone ringing. It’s also just one quarter of Incinerated Gods, yet another of this year’s awesome EPs. U jam?

Vuvyr’s Incinerated Gods came out last week via Throatruiner. Get it here and here. Stream their 2013 full-length here
