Cannibal Corpse’s Alex Webster Knows a Lot About Bass Gear

Webster Rudinger and SchleibaumMetalSucks’ sister site, Gear Gods, recently conducted a video interview with Cannibal Corpse bassist Alex Webster during some downtime on Mayhem Fest. And since Cannibal Corpse rule, and Webster is one of like three bassists in modern metal about whom anyone actually gives a shit, I thought you might like to watch it! Beyond such SAT words as “it,” “that,” and “a,” I honestly have no idea what he’s saying most of the time; he might as well be speaking in Mandarin. But I’m guessing that bass and recording dorks will find it fascinating! It sure sounds informative, that’s for sure.

Fun side note #1: Webster is wearing a shirt featuring The Faceless’ drummer, Alex Rudinger, for reasons that are probably clear only to Webster and Rudinger (they did both appear on Jeff Loomis and Keith Merrow’s Conquering Dystopia album, so, presumably, they’re buds.)

Fun side note #2: Darkest Hour’s Mike Schleibaum is standing in the background giving an interview of his own for much of this video’s running time. I wonder if the lady who conducted that interview got any footage of our interview being conducted in her background. This whole thing could get so meta!

Mayhem Fest is currently in progress; get remaining dates here. Cannibal Corpse’s latest album, A Skeletal Domain, comes out September 16 on Metal Blade.

In semi-related news, Webster, Rudinger and Schleibaum is my new favorite law firm.
