Thank You Scientist - Maps of Non-Existent PlacesOnce you start listening to “My Famed Disappearing Act,” below, you will immediately understand why Coheed & Cambria frontman Claudio Sanchez’s signed Thank You Scientist to his new label Evil Ink Records. There are a lot of sonic similarities between the two bands, especially in the vocals. It often seems as if successful musicians who start their own labels sign bands in their own image, doesn’t it?

Fortunately we like Coheed & Cambria, and we’re digging this new Thank You Scientist track too. It’s kinda Coheed-y but a little more modern and shreddy, if that makes sense, as if the members of the band are acutely aware of what’s going on in the modern progressive metal scene and have chosen to incorporate trace elements of it into their own music. Horns always make things super fun too, and there are plenty of those here.

Maps of Non-Existent Places comes out on September 23rd; order here. Catch Thank you Scientist on tour right now with who else than Coheed & Cambria on their very special Neverender:IKSSE3 tour. Dates here.
