Speaking of Jeff Loomis, Here’s a Video of Him Playing a Brand New Solo Song

Jeff_Loomis_002Jeff Loomis turned the metal world right over onto its arse yesterday when he announced that he’d joined Arch Enemy, replacing second guitarist Nick Cordle. Still kinda getting used to that news — holy crap, Jeff Loomis is in Arch Enemy now! It’s nuts, and yet it makes total sense given Loomis’ past and pedigree. So awesome.

Now Loomis has released a playthrough video of his own material, a new song that’s presently unnamed. It sounds typically Loomis-ian, which is to say, it rips! Loomis is one of my absolute favorite guitarist to watch play — he’s just so fluid and effortless, and his leads are so graceful!

All the guitars and drums were recorded and programmed (respectively) with Toontrack products, and it all sounds pretty sweet if you ask us. Fellow guitar players are invited to download a version of the track with all the solos muted, then submit a version with their own leads; do so here.
