Fear, Emptiness, Decibel: Decibel Flexi Deluxe Edition Collector’s Box Commercial for Best Picture!
Decibel has been cracking skulls over 10 years, but we’ve only had one bona fide commercial, “A Night at the Office,” which ran twice during an interminable two-hour Headbangers Ball one fateful weekend in 2007. As you can see, NO EXPENSE WAS SPARED, and former customer service guru Mark Evans gave Daniel Day-Lewis’ milkshake-drinking Oscar turn in There Will Be Blood a run for its money.
Seven years later, we’re back in the ad game, hence the video you see below, promoting the Deluxe Edition Collector’s Flexi Box. We don’t need to go too behind-the-scenes with this—it’s fucking 47 seconds long—so let’s just give credit to director Mikael Simpson (responsible for this killer Ramming Speed video), co-stars Enrique Sagarnaga (Crypt Sermon drummer) and Arnie Maull (Sacrificial Blood guitarist), and the very generous, very awesome Philadelphia-based metal brick-and-mortar store Vinyl Altar, who allowed us to film there after-hours. Least importantly, the script and voice-over is courtesy of yours truly. I was going for this vibe. Hope I didn’t fuck up too bad.
