Trans-Siberian Orchestra Tour Grossed $51 Million in 52 Days

Trans-Siberian Orchestra LiveIt’s a known fact that Trans-Siberian Orchestra is a cash cow. Every year around the holidays the ex-Savatage members and co. trot out their crew to play metal-themed Christmas music in arenas worldwide, and every time they release an album it sells like gangbusters. Yet despite their Wikipedia page’s claim that they’ve sold 10 million concert tickets and 10 million albums in their career, I’m not sure I know anyone who’s spent money on either; they’re kinda like Nickelback in that way, only not horrible.

But get this: Brave Words [via Metal Insider] is reporting that Trans-Siberian Orchestra grossed $51 million on their recent tour, which spanned November 13th through January 4th and played 122 (!!!) shows. FIFTY ONE MILLION DOLLARS!!! Crikey! Here are the stats:

– The 2014 Winter Tour grossed more than $51 million in just 52 days.
– Total tour attendance was nearly 1,000,000 fans.
– The tour grossed nearly $1 million per day from 11/13/14 to 1/4/15.
– The tour donated more than $1,000,000 to local and national charities.
– TSO has now played to well over 12 million fans.

Of course $51 million is just the gross with no expenses taken out for crew, transport, hotels, catering, merch printing, production, etc. Still, those are completely insane numbers even by Taylor Swift standards, let alone a metal band of any ilk. Aspiring ponytail/neckbeard prog-metallers, don’t give up — this could be you one day!

Here’s a timelapse of the band’s crew setting up a for a show on this most recent tour, followed by some concert footage of theirs from back in 1999.
