Jam the Awesome New Coliseum Track and Video “We are the Water”

Coliseum - Anxiety's KissColiseum have been one of the most consistent, awesome and consistently awesome metal bands I’ve had the pleasure of learning about and following over the past 8 years of running this site. Not consistent as in “never changing” — they’ve actually evolved quite a bit with each album — but consistent as in whatever they do, they do it well.

Their fifth studio album Anxiety’s Kiss, out May 5th via Deathwish, seems like it’ll have no problems continuing that trajectory. It doesn’t seem like all that long ago that “bluesy rockabilly punk” was Coliseum’s new musical direction, and now here we are in 2015 and it’s already something entirely different. This time around Coliseum have amplified their atmospheric undertones and brought them to the forefront, retaining a distinct sonic template over a driving, mid-paced groove. It’s almost like Coliseum borrowed a page from the “Morrisey Metal” playbook perfected by Junius and folded it right into their old sound. It’s fantastic.
