Royal Thunder - Crooked DoorsSpeaking of time travel: I think the general consensus is that Royal Thunder usually sound very 70s… but in the case of a substantial portion of “Time Machine,” the new song from their forthcoming album Crooked Doors, that’s not really true at all. Some of it has a very 80s vibe; another section sounds Nirvana-esque. It fits in with the rest of Royal Thunder’s catalog, but it’s not analogous to any of their other songs.

Which is, it should go without saying, a good thing — variety is the spice of life, after all. Plus, it turns out that Royal Thunder are just as good at power ballads as they are at druggy, bluesy stuff. Next thing you know, they’ll write the best Ministry song Ministry never wrote.
