Converse Slayers, Slayers of Converse (Alternate Title: FREE SLAYER SHOW!)
MetalSucks readers should be familiar with Converse Rubber Tracks, the state-of-the-art recording studio in Brooklyn that’s available for ANY band to record at — completely free of charge — for one day, fully staffed. Each of the last two summers MetalSucks has curated a full week of bands recording at the studio — hand-picked by us — and we’ve documented the entire process and premiered the finished tracks right here. Be sure to check out our 2013 and 2014 CRTxMetalSucks collaborations. We’ll be doing it again this coming summer — stay tuned for deets on how to get your band submitted!
Now Boston metalheads will get to benefit from the good fortune of having the sneaker company’s headquarters based in their home town: Rubber Tracks will be hosting five shows this spring, each headlined by national acts with local Boston bands who have recorded at Converse Rubber Tracks opening. Of note to metal and punk fans: Slayer (with Doomriders) and The Descendants, who will each headline one of the shows!
As usual, the events are completely free, but you’ve gotta register to attend: you can do so here starting on April 20th. This is your chance to see Slayer, who will probably release one of the top grossing metal albums of 2015, live and in person completely for free. Don’t miss it!
Here are the lineups and dates:
April 27 – The Replacements, Dinosaur Jr., the Young Leaves
April 28 – Passion Pit, Baths, Radclyffe Hall
April 29 – Slayer, Doomriders, Rozamov
April 30 – Chance the Rapper, Action Bronson, Michael Christmas
May 1 – Descendents, King Tuff, Bent Shapes
