Sitar + Metal = Mute the Saint

0

You’re likely already familiar with 19-year-old Indian sitar player Rishabh Seen, whose impressive covers of songs by Animals as Leaders and Meshuggah have been taking the metalsphere by storm over the past few months.

What you probably didn’t know — but shouldn’t be surprising — is that Rishabh composes his own original metal songs on the sitar, too, and his band Mute the Saint — which he proudly claims is the first Indian classical progressive metal band– brings those compositions to life. The band, which also features guitarist Josh Seguin (responsible for the mix + mastering), Jared Sandhy on drums, and Shashwat Kapoor on bass, exists solely on the Internet; the members have never met in real life.

Metal Injection premiered the first ever Mute the Saint song, “The Fall of Sirius,” earlier this week. Check it out below, and pay Mute the Saint a visit on Bandcamp and Facebook. The band’s self-titled debut will come out in February of 2016.
