Exclusive Video Premiere: Faking, “Not Fine”
Faking’s new music video for “Not Fine” is shockingly refreshing in its simplicity. Sure, the concept of a “simple” or “stripped down” music video is nothing new, but I can’t recall one ever being done in quite this way before. I can’t say whether it was the director’s intent, but watching this clip feels like it ACTUALLY feels to watch a band play live, not the glossy, cut-together version most music videos portray. You watch one guy for a bit… then you stare at his pedals… then you watch another guy… then you zone out for a seconds… then something catches your attention and you’re pulled back into some other detail that you focus on intently for a while, or maybe you zoom out and take the whole picture in. Sure, you won’t get some of the cool angles and views we get here, but we dig the way this is all put together to give that really-there vibe.
Faking’s new album Goddamn Cowards drops via Reptilian Records on May 27th; pre-order here.
