Brooklyn Venue The Acheron to Close Next Month

0

While Saint Vitus in Greenpoint may be the best place to catch lots of heavy-hitting metal acts in New York, The Acheron in Bushwick is where you see everything else. Smaller, grodier, and more intense than Vitus, The Acheron was the perfect venue to catch weird underground metal, crust punk, and the occasional goth industrial night, all while getting lit up on boozy slushies and chowing Carmen Fries at the Anchored Inn next door.

But sadly, that fragrant dream is coming to an end. The Acheron just posted the following to its Facebook page:

This is incredibly sad, and a loss for the entire New York metal scene. Anyone involved in New York metal has at least one story about an awesome night packed into The Acheron; my own blurry memories include seeing Young and in the Way, Nekrofilth, Mutant Supremacy, Organ Donor, and Midnight that time where they set their jackets on fire and ran them through the crowd. MetalSucks has also put on multiple shows at the venue over the years.

Our hearts and best wishes go out to all of the staff at The Acheron. Thank you for giving us NYC creeps a place to be ourselves.
