Video: MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow Opens Post-Inauguration Show with “Tim” Araya and Slayer, Megadeth, and Testament

Well, this was certainly unexpected.

Liberal political commentator Rachel Maddow opened her MSNBC program on Friday evening, January 20 — her first show after President Donald Trump’s inauguration — with a discussion of Slayer, Megadeth, and Testament’s 2010 American Carnage Tour. You may recall that the tour was at one point in danger of being cancelled as a result of Slayer frontman Tom Araya (or “Tim” Araya, as Maddow mistakenly called him) requiring back surgery.

The reason Maddow brought up this particular tour, in case you can’t guess, is because of Trump’s already-infamous reference to “American carnage” in his inaugural address yesterday. You can watch the video below:

This is not Maddow’s first time mentioning metal on her show. She mentioned Floridian death metal bands like Deicide, Obituary, and Morbid Angel in 2010 and again in 2012. She also had Lars Ulrich on as a guest in 2009 (video below), and more recently called Metallica’s Hardwired… to Self-Destruct “the new perfect soundtrack for 2016.”
