Valient Thorr’s Valient Himself is Raising Money to Take Supplies to Standing Rock Protestors

0

Valient Thorr frontman Valient Himself is a guy who seems to generate good vibes wherever he goes. So it’s not all that surprising that he is now taking it upon himself to drive to Standing Rock with supplies for the protestors — or, as Valient calls them, “water protectors” (I love that!). Of course, those supplies cost money. So Valient has launched a crowdfunding campaign  to raise $10,000. As of this writing, he’s already raised close to $3,000, and he has almost two weeks left to go.

A statement from Valient, posted a few days ago, reads as follows:

To be already over $2,500 is incredible.  Thank you so much to everyone who has donated and those who have shared!  Special thanks to Doug Benson, Brian Posehn, Steve Agee, Greg Hetson, Scott Avett, Skinner, Municipal Waste, Danko Jones, Red Fang, and Nashville Pussy for helping me get the word out this week.

After this heavy week of atrocities, such as the Police backed by the National Guard crossing the bridges, taunting the Water Protectors, busting heads and going so far as to set teepees of the ‘Lost Child’ camp on fire, it seems that things are again taking a turn for the worse for those who have decided to take a stand against corporations like Energy Transfer Partners.  Only getting out sparse video footage after the fact and having pipeline-invested companies spread paid advertisements with false information about the dapl on twitter and Facebook is making it harder for the Water Protectors to get the justice they deserve.  They are calling for well abled bodies to help and bring in these supplies.  With your donations, I am answering that call.  I will also be bringing supplies to help clean up messes that I’ve heard have been left by others who did not abide by the rule, ‘take only memories, leave only footprints.’  Keep spreading the word!  16 days left to donate!!!
