Slate Suggests These Metal Albums’ Titles Are Less Dark Than the Washington Post’s New Motto

In case you haven’t heard, The Washington Post recently changed their slogan in lieu of Supreme Leader Trump’s war on the media: it is now “Democracy Dies in Darkness.” (The new motto has thus far only appeared in the online edition of the paper, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that changed soon.) Which is, y’know, really fucking bleak, especially since very powerful people really are trying to kill American democracy right now.

Times like these call for some humor — even if it’s gallows humor — to make us all feel a little better. To that end, Slate had the clever idea of suggesting “15 Metal Albums Whose Titles Are Less Dark Than the Washington Post’s New Motto.” Here are a few of my personal favorites:170222_slatest_wp-metal_07-jpg-crop-promovar-mediumlarge 170222_slatest_wp-metal_11-jpg-crop-promovar-mediumlarge 170222_slatest_wp-metal_13-jpg-crop-promovar-mediumlarge

And, of course:

You can see the rest here. I’m honestly surprised they stopped at fifteen. You could probably do this all day. The fact that they left Anal Cunt’s It Just Gets Worse off the list almost seems like a crime.

Thanks to my old pal Ben Wadler for bringing this to my attention!
