On March 24, The End Records will release a special twentieth anniversary edition of Today is the Day‘s 1997 album, Temple of the Morning Star. This reissue is a must-have for fans who already love the album or n00bs are just getting into Today is the Day: depending on which format you purchase, you’ll not only get bonus demos, but also audio and/or video of a complete 1997 performance by the band recorded live at LA’s legendary Whisky a Go Go!

Mouth watering yet? No worries: we have something to tide you over ’til the reissue’s release… specifically, the Morning Star track “Miracle,” as taken from that special  Whisky a Go Go performance!

Says Today is the Day mastermind Steve Austin of the recording:

“It was crazy being out on the road for this record and playing the Whisky was always an honor to me because of so many legendary shows being played there. I always loved playing ‘Miracle’ because it was just so goddamn heavy. The song blends hi string guitar riffing with detuned octave chords and lyrically is a look inside my mind during a time when I was trapped, living in a industrial warehouse and homeless.”

Oy. Let no one ever say Mr. Austin never suffered for his art.

Check out the live recording of “Miracle” below, then go here, here, or here to pre-order the Temple of the Morning Star anniversary edition. Note that the CD/DVD edition features the complete video of the live show, while the LP features the audio. Enjoy!
