Video: Dimmu Borgir Perform “Progenies of the Great Apocalypse” Live with Orchestra

0

Back in 2012, Dimmu Borgir did a performance with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra and Schola Cantorum Choir during Wacken Open Air. Now the band is gearing up to put out a live album titled Forces of the Northern Night, which will feature said performance, and in anticipation of that release they’ve also released some footage of them playing “Progenies of the Great Apocalypse.”

So, what’s it like hearing a band like Dimmu Borgir play with a live orchestra? One word: epic! The original song already had the instruments in the backing track so it makes more sense than say, Metallica’s S & M, which I’ll admit had its moments but for the most part felt pretty forced. Granted, I haven’t heard this performance in its entirety yet, so I have to reserve judgment.

Regardless, this is a pretty awesome change of pace and if you’re digging it as much as I did you can pre-order the live album right here.

The video is embedded below for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy!
