Exclusive Track Premiere: Barrows, “Entrada”

0

We first became hip to L.A. instrumental rockers Barrows with their 2014 album Red Giant, a gorgeously cinematic concept album about the life of a star and what happens after it dies.

Three years later Barrows return with Obsidion, and we’re very pleased to premiere “Entrada” from the new album right here on MS. The track hits all the same sweet spots that the band’s previous effort did: it’s beautifully orchestrated, it’s dramatic, it’s an engaging listen and it’s incredibly sonically pleasing. It’s really everything you could ask for — and more — from an instrumental band. And, like last time, there’s a heady concept behind it. Explains the band:

“The album depicts the experience of a man who is abducted from earth and brought to Obsidion, a place where dimension is indefinable and the boundaries of human consciousness cease to exist. Entrada is the journey from Earth to Obsidion.”

Barrows will support Brant Bjork (Kyuss) at Los Angeles’ Echoblex next Monday, May 1st. The following week, the band begins their month-long residency at The Echo, where they’ll play a free show every Monday of the month with a bill of area bands of their choice. And then they’ll head out on a massive, month-long U.S. tour: dates below.
