Exclusive Premiere: Illustrations, “Harrowed End”

0

Those who were introduced to San Antonio, TX act Illustrations through our 2014 premiere of the band’s song “Never Feeling” might be surprised to hear the drastic change in the band’s sound some three years later. At least on one track, “Harrowed End,” gone is the abrasive post-hardcore of the band’s past, and in its place atmospheric, proggy post-metal with gothic vocals.

But this is why we love music, right? Bands change and grow and evolve, and we go along for the ride with them. The sounds we fell in love with from Illustrations’ past work aren’t totally gone; they’re still here, too, just interspersed with the band’s new, experimental side. It’s a fantastic mix, really, and sure to please fans of Junius, The Ocean and Botch alike.

Illustrations’ new album Acts of God comes out May 26th; order it on Bandcamp.
