Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne Renewed Their Wedding Vows
Ozzy Osbourne went missing almost exactly a year ago, just one day after reports surfaced that the couple had split. Ozzy turned up shortly thereafter, and it later came out that he had been having an affair after which he checked into rehab for sex addiction.
Most of the Ozzy-related headlines since then have been dominated by his musical career — the end of Black Sabbath’s touring days, rumors of a new Ozzy solo album, and Zakk Wylde’s return to his solo band — but now his personal life comes to the forefront once again with news that he and Sharon have patched things up.
E! News reports that the couple decided to renew their wedding vows on May 14th (also Mother’s Day) in an intimate, private ceremony with their close family present. The couple was first married on July 4, 1982.
It’s hard to know what to make of this: the whole concept of renewing wedding vows always seemed a bit odd to me, but if it helps strengthen a couple’s relationship, hey, I get it. I don’t think anyone following the whole saga of Ozzy’s disappearance and affair actually believed Ozzy and Sharon would split for good, but it’s still reassuring to know that metal’s most enduring couple will live on.
There were some theories floating around the Internet after Ozzy’s disappearance that the whole thing was a publicity stunt to drum up interest in Ozzy’s new reality show with his son Jack… but ultimately those were just that: theories. The mystery/genius of Sharon’s business savvy only grows.
