New Covers to Which I’ll Never Listen, Part II: August Burns Red Play Wham!
In addition to Five Finger Death Punch releasing an Offspring cover to which I’ll never listen, August Burns Red have now released a cover of Wham!’s “Last Christmas” to which I will also never listen. I will, however, take a moment to make fun of this ridiculous statement about the cover from ABR bassist Dustin Davidson:
“The lyrics to Wham!’s ‘Last Christmas‘ are very sad, so if you’re feeling lonely this holiday season, I hope this cover finds you well.”
Two things that oughta jump out at you about that sentiment:
- If you’re sad, this song will likely not cheer you up, because it, too, is sad.
- If you’re sad, Davidson hopes the song finds you not sad.
So the statement might as well say this:
“If you’re depressed, here, let us remind you how terrible everything is. Also, if you’re falling from a great distance, we hope your feet are on solid ground.”
