Here’s A New Horrendous Track To Brain-Scramble Your Tuesday

Sometimes it feels like every death metal band today either wants to be proggy and brutal or as gruntingly old-school as possible. You’re either left with something that lacks punch or just straight-up Autopsy worship.

That’s why it’s so good to know that Philly’s Horrendous has a new album on the way–that band really walks that mid-Nineties line, where death metal is still killer but sports slightly broadened horizons and uncommon riffs. You know, like Human. Everyone loves Human, right?

The band released on new single last month, but have now put out a second one called “The Idolator”, and man, it’s funky but satisfying. There’s never that downtuned grind that a lot of us crave in our death metal, but its punchy momentum and weirdo riffs really do the trick. I’m digging it hard.

Listen to “The Idolator” below. Horrendous’ new album, Idol, drops September 28th. Pre-order it here.

Thanks to Ranpal for the heads-up!
