Lamb of God guitarist Mark Morton has released a new single from his forthcoming solo debut, Anesthetic, and it’s one sure to garner a lot of attention: “Cross Off” is a long-promised track featuring late Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington.

So how is it? It basically sounds like Lamb of God with Chester Bennington singing instead of Randy Blythe screaming. I was never a Linkin Park fan, but Bennington’s vocal prowess was never in doubt, and Dio knows Morton can write a riff. So you end up with something unsurprisingly catchy and aggro. I’d feel much kinder to modern hard rock bands if they could all write songs this good. Actually, listening a second time, I wonder if this isn’t the best Disturbed song Disturbed never wrote. Hm. Interesting.

Listen to “Cross Off” below. Anesthetic is out March 1 on Spinefarm. Pre-orders are here.
