Revocation’s Dave Davidson Launches New Band Gargoyl

I went out for Mexican food last night, and as is so often the case after eating Mexican I ended up on the toilet twice this morning and a third time this afternoon. It wasn’t pleasant.

But had I not been on the porcelain throne a half hour ago, I wouldn’t have stumbled upon the announcement on Instagram that Revocation guitarist/vocalist Dave Davidson has launched a new band called Gargoyl. Reports Dave:

“Very pleased to announce my new band Gargoyl. I’ve been quietly working on this project for awhile alongside my co-collaborator Luke Roberts who you may know from his work in Ayahuasca. Over the last year the music has really evolved into something truly special and I can’t wait to share a taste with you all soon. In the meantime please follow @gargoylband and spread the word.”

What will Gargoyl sound like? Dave has influences from all over the map — he’s a trained jazz musician, for example — so I’m hoping for something pretty far left of center, or at the very least different from Revocation (I love Revo — but I also love variety!). We’ll see; stay tuned.

Be sure to thank last night’s meal and today’s spicy remains for this update.
