In Flames Tap Chris Broderick as Tour Fill-In Guitarist

Were you excited to see Jesper Strömblad Niclas Engelin on In Flames’ upcoming North American tour? Sorry, pal: the guitarist, who has been with the band since 2010, is under doctor’s orders to stay home (for what ailment isn’t clear).

In his place will be Chris Broderick, who has spent time in Megadeth, Nevermore, Jag Panzer and Act of Defiance and should be more than capable as a replacement.

The band issued the following statement earlier today via Facebook:

“To all of the Jesterheads coming out to our upcoming North American tour: We’re extremely sad to inform that, due to strong medical advisement to stay home, Niclas will not be joining the tour. Luckily, ex-Megadeth guitarist and longtime friend, Chris Broderick was able to step in at the last minute for the full run.

“Please wish Niclas the best as he stays home to rest. We can’t wait to see you soon.”

I don’t mean this as a slight against Engelin, but I think In Flames fans will have just as much fun at these shows with Broderick up on stage.

The affected dates are as follows:

02/12 Houston, TX – House Of Blues
02/13 New Orleans, LA – Southport Music Hall
02/14 Atlanta, GA – Center Stage Theater
02/16 Norfolk, VA – The NorVa

02/18 Charlotte, NC – The Fillmore
