The Ghost Inside: July Show Will Be Their Only One in 2019

Earlier this week, The Ghost Inside announced that they’ll be playing a show on Saturday, July 13 at The Shrine in Los Angeles. That’s a big deal, ’cause it will be the their first show since the 2015 bus crash that left several members with life-changing injuries.

And I think a lot of people (myself included) assumed this meant that The Ghost Insider were ready to come back in full force. Unfortunately — if understandably! — this is not the case.

A new statement from the band makes it clear that “This is absolutely 100% the only show we will play in 2019,” and while “we sure hope it isn’t” their last-ever performance, they can’t say it won’t be with absolute certainty.

Here’s the statement in full:

“With tickets for our show in July on sale in less than 48 hours, we’ve been overwhelmed by the outpouring of excitement and support. There is one question many of you have been asking: ‘Is this your last show?’ The answer is we don’t know, but we sure hope it isn’t. We won’t make any decisions about that until we get off the stage and have a chance to let it sink in. This is absolutely 100% the only show we will play in 2019. No secret warm up show the day before and no surprise tour announcement the day after. This is going to be a once in a lifetime night that we have fought for every day of our recovery. We will be joined by all of our families, friends, and those that supported us behind the scenes, and we hope that many of you will join us as well. Tickets will be on sale from 10 AM Pacific Time on Friday.”

Again: given everything the band has been through, and continues to go through, their position is totally understandable. You can be bummed about it, but you can’t fault them for it.

Quick side-note: I’ve seen a bunch of comments under the band’s Instagram post asking for a paid live stream to be made available for fans who can’t attend. That’s a cool idea and it will be great if it happens, but a word of caution: sometimes these things are really beyond the band’s control for various reasons. I’m not saying there’s no chance there will happen. I’m just saying, y’know… temper your expectations and don’t get mad if it doesn’t happen.

Meanwhile, you can buy tickets for the show starting at 10 a.m. PST tomorrow, Friday, March 1, at this link. Expect this mutha to sell out fast.
