Glassing Release Melancholic New Single “Sleeper”
Sometimes listening to a Deftones album is bittersweet, because you can scream out “I don’t care where just far!” into an empty bucket of ice cream and still feel exhilarated afterwards. Glassing’s new single “Sleeper,” which made its premiere on Metal Injection, has that same kind of effect; it’s dark and brooding in nature but you can’t steer away from the exalting feeling it delivers within the first twenty seconds.
The single is made up of intricately constructed layers of dreamy atmospheric sounds, wailing tormented vocals, and slow riffs that combine elements of shoegaze, dream-pop, and early black metal, breaking free from any one specific genre. The band notes that: “‘Sleeper’ comes from incessant suspicion, always quick to remind you, ‘you deserve nothing and you know it to be true.'” The video’s accompanying visuals of barren coastlines and death are enough to send you into a four minute existential crisis with open arms.
Glassing’s most recent single comes off their upcoming LP entitled Spotted Horse, which comes out on May 17 via Brutal Panda can be pre-ordered here. Following the release of the album, Glassing will take off on a U.S. summer tour, with dates posted underneath the embed.
