Video: Marilyn Manson Plays His First-Ever Acoustic Show in 1991

0

On June 21, 1991, Marilyn Manson — then still known as Marilyn Manson & The Spooky Kids — played his/their first-ever acoustic show, at Yesterday & Today Records in Miami, FL. Footage from the 28-year-old performance popped up online a few years ago, but is only now coming to our attention, thanks to Kerrang!. It’s trippy stuff, and not just because of the 22-year-old Manson’s babyface.

It’s also pretty bad. It’s clear that Manson and company were still figuring out who they were at this point — remember, their debut, Portrait of an American Family, is still three years away at this point, and their breakthrough, Antichrist Superstar, is five years away — and… uh… yeah. This version of the band was never gonna sell seven million records, were they?
