Slipknot Give Behind-the-Scenes Look Into Their Stage Production, Citing Iron Maiden Inspiration

0

Slipknot have just ended their European tour and are now gearing up to embark on this year’s Knotfest Roadshow here in North America with Volbeat, Gojira, and Behemoth at the end of July. To honor the end of their European run, the nu-metal gods have released a recap video that really tickles my figurative pickle. What’s cuter than seeing a group of dudes wearing (arguably) the most brutal face masks pump themselves up in a huddle before each show?

The recap video also offers a glimpse of their stage set-up and performances. Vocalist Corey Taylor recently told the BBC Radio 1 Rock Show that their stage production was inspired by Iron Maiden, saying:

“Honestly, it’s everything that we’ve wanted to do for years, and we just never had the budget, and we had also had a lot of people around us telling us we couldn’t do it. The show looks amazing. Not only is it interactive—there’s video, there’s fire—but the whole set looks like an industrial complex. This is our attempt to create some Iron Maiden stuff, which is something we’ve been trying to do for a while.”

The video, and all this talk about Iron Maiden production quality, is giving me the chills, and I for one am pumped to see them during their upcoming tour. If you haven’t yet pre-ordered your copy of Slipknot’s upcoming album, We Are Not Your Kind, you can do so here.
