Corey Taylor Says Unreleased 2008 Slipknot Album Has “More of a Radiohead Vibe,” Reveals Album Title

With all the fuss around Slipknot’s latest release, We Are Not Your Kind, let’s not neglect to remember that their 2008 Album, All Hope Is Gone, turns 11 today. Feel old yet?

The metal titans are now teasing the unreleased tracks from the 2008 studio sessions for All Hope is Gone. Clown originally spilled the beans that the band was planning to release those tracks at some point during the album cycle of We Are Not Your Kind. And while we already knew that the songs have remained unreleased due to a marked deviation from Slipknot’s trademark sound, Corey Taylor has now made it known that the tracks have “more of a Radiohead vibe.”

Speaking to Sirius XM’s Trunk Nation, Taylor discussed the unreleased album — which he reveals is titled Look Outside Your Window — saying:

“We’ve been trying to find a way to release those songs for God knows how long. The stuff from Look Outside Your Window is really, really — I mean, there’s no real way to describe it. It’s experimental, but it’s super vibey, super melodic. It’s really good. It’s hard to explain.

“There’s something about those songs. They’re very solemn, very energetic, very artistic. For people who are used to a certain way of Slipknot sounding, this doesn’t sound anything like that. It’s much more of a rock vibe. Honestly, it’s much more of a Radiohead vibe, to be honest.”

In a Kerrang! interview last year, Clown went on to agree saying:

“The truth is: while we were making that album, Jim and I — who were the only two out of all nine original members who came to the studio — were there every day, from the beginning to the end… and then Corey and Sid became a part of it, and all four of us became a part of it — it wasn’t just any one person’s. It became ours. And because of that, we played it for a lot of people, and we said, ‘What do you think?’ And these people would always say, ‘It’s not Slipknot.’”

Regardless of whether or not the songs “are Slipknot” or not, they sound like they heckin’ rule.

You can still catch Slipknot on their current tour with Volbeat, Gojira, and Behemoth at the North American dates below, in Australia and New Zealand (with Metallica) later this year and in European and U.K. arenas early in 2020. I don’t want to see ya’ll in the Facebook/Instagram comment section saying, “When are you coming to *insert name of city here*?!,” ok?
