Watch the First Trailer for the “Dramatic Musical” Scored by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross

Guys, I’m starting to think that Trent Reznor has gotten an Zoloft prescription or something. Following last week’s announcement that he and his partner in crime, Atticus Ross, are scoring a goddamn Pixar movie, we now have the first trailer for Waves, the “dramatic musical” the duo also scored, and… here, you tell me if this looks like something the Prince of Darkness would have been involved with fifteen or twenty years ago:

I’m not even saying Waves looks bad — I’m just saying we’ve come a long way from “Wish.” Since Waves comes from director Trey Edward Schults, who made the dour and unsettling It Comes at Night, a lot of us assumed this would be a more stereotypically Reznor-compatible project. But Girl with the Dragon Tattoo: The Musical this clearly ain’t! And that actually makes me more curious to see Waves when it comes out in November.

Waves comes out November 1 and stars Kelvin Harrison, Jr., Lucas Hedges, Taylor Russell, Alexa Demie, Renée Elise Goldsberry and Sterling K. Brown.
