Exclusive EP Stream: The Living Dead by Stonecutters

0

Stonecutters are back! The best thing to come out Kentucky since Jim Beam will release a new two-track EP, The Living Dead, tomorrow, October 25… just in time for their next tour, which kicks off, appropriately, on Halloween! If you’re not already hip to the quartet’s extra-siqq brand of deathrash, The Living Dead will almost certainly make a fan out of you. And if you are already hip to these dudes, well… you’ll surely be glad to know they haven’t lost a step since the release of last year’s excellent Carved in Time.

MetalSucks is thrilled to debut The Living Dead, which you can stream above and purchase here. Says the band of the release:

“The title track, ‘The Living Dead,’  is an ode to our hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. The movie, ‘The Return of the Living Dead,’ takes place in this city. We love horror and gore so using Dan O’Bannon’s 1985 film was a no brainer (pun definitely intended).

“The inspiration for ‘Outside the Presence of God’ came from a couple of places. The lyrical theme is about going against your family’s religious beliefs. Choosing a different path in life and having confidence within yourself to make a difference in the world without the help of a divine creator can be a hard concept to understand. A lot of people we know struggle with this, especially in the Bible Belt. It can be hard because you love your family but not religion. It’s enough to divide families apart. We wanted to write a song showing that you are not alone in your struggles for freedom from religion.

“The songs off ‘The Living Dead’ EP are a sonic statement of how much we have grown as a band. The sacrifices we have made, strained relationships, loved ones lost, and risks we have taken for our art are in these songs. The ideas behind the EP were born from continuously hitting the road since our LP, ‘Carved in Time,’ came out in November of 2018. We never want to stop pushing ourselves to make our music. Zero compromises. This is a glimpse of where we are heading. “
