Click Click Boom! Saliva are Planning Reunion with Original Vocalist Josey Scott #lol
When it comes to early ’00s mook rock, Saliva reigned supreme amidst a very crowded field of mooks, with vocalist Josey Scott the King Mook amongst mooks. He left the band back in 2011 (in case you missed it!) but since all bands reunite eventually and anniversary tours are all the rage right now — shit, even Crazy Town just did it! — the band are planning to get back with their old singer to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their 2001 album Every Six Seconds. A new album is in the works, too.
Saliva are the band that wrote “Click Click Boom,” by the way. Scott also made his mark on pop culture with a guest appearance on the Chad Kroeger (Nickelback) song “Hero” from the Spiderman soundtrack. It’s all coming back now, right? Mook City.
Anyhoo, Saliva have made four records with new vocalist Bobby Amaru since Scott’s departure, but Scott recently told The Morning Dump podcast (clever name, guys, real clever) that the boys have been talking again lately:
“I’m going to get back together with the guys and we’re gonna do a reunion tour and a new album next year… January 2020, we’re gonna put the old thinking caps on and get in the studio. Now that I’m clean and sober, my mind is clear, and I’m focused like I used to be in my 20s when I wouldn’t take ‘no’ for an answer. And I went out, and people told me I’d never make it and they told I’d never get a record deal, and I said, ‘Fuck you!’ and I went and got it anyway — without a high school diploma. I’ve kind of got that focusness back. I’m gonna get in the studio with the guys, I’m gonna write a badass record, and we’re gonna go sell it.”
Focusness, everyone! From Josey’s mouth to your ears.
Elsewhere, Saliva guitarist Wayne Swinny told Detroit radio station WRIF that the anniversary tour is in the band’s headspace:
“The first record came out in 2001, so this would fall somewhere in us doing a 20-year reunion thing, which would be not 2020 but 2021. But what’s happened is there’s been text messages and we started talking. And everybody’s excited — Josey’s excited, I’m excited — everybody’s pumped up. Josey, I guess he couldn’t hold it in anymore. I don’t blame him. It’s been a long time.”
“There’s nothing on paper. I don’t know how long Josey wants to come back — if he wants to come back for good or if it’s gonna be a reunion CD and a reunion tour and then he’s done. I’m not sure. It’s all preliminary and barely been discussed at this point.
“As it stands, we will continue to do some shows with the current lineup, and it’ll be business as usual for a while. And then, as things start getting closer, we’ll probably take a break and set up the reunion thing — who all wants to be involved, who is involved. Like I said, nothing is really on paper now. But Chris [D’Abaldo, former SALIVA rhythm guitarist], myself and Josey have spoken. So we’ll see who all else wants to do it.”
If you’re still reading, congrats, you have an extremely high level of interest in Saliva. I didn’t even read all that. TL;DR: Saliva reunion with Josey Scott. GET PUMPED!!! Click click boom, bitches!!
