Marijannah (Wormrot) Debut New Single “1966”

  • Axl Rosenberg

Earlier this year, we learned that Marijannah, the Singaporean stoner/doom band featuring members of Wormrot, The Caulfield Cult, and Abolition A.D., were planning to release a new album in December. Well, December is comin’ up fast, and a new album there shall be! The record is called Istanah (which I *believe* is a reference to what’s basically Singapore’s version of The White House), and the toe-tappin’, fuzzed-out first single, “1966,” suggests it’s gonna be killer. It’s kind a kind of melancholy vibe, even during the wailing guitar solos by Rasyid Juraimi and “Skinny” Nicholas Ng, which isn’t necessarily “usual” for stoner metal bands… but then, if Marijannah were just another stoner metal band, we wouldn’t love them so much!

Check out “1966” below. Cursed Tongue Records will be release Istanah on 12” vinyl record and all major digital platforms on December 6.
